Questions & Answers
What are the benefits of lime granules?
We recommend blending granulated lime with NPK granules and placing them near the root zone during planting. This neutralizes the root zone, enhances NPK availability, and provides calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) to the plants.
Lime granules are not meant to replace traditional lime but are useful when application before planting isn’t possible. It can also be a cost-effective choice for rented fields, especially when the duration of availability is uncertain.
What are micronutrients?
• Macronutrients are required in large amounts
• Micronutrients are required in smaller quantities
Although only found in trace amounts in plant tissue, micronutrients play an imperative role in plant growth and development. A deficiency of any of these nutrients can lead to potential declines in productivity.
What are the 7 main micronutrients required for plant growth?
• Boron (B)
• Chlorine (CI)
• Copper (Cu)
• Iron (Fe)
• Manganese (Mn)
• Molybdenum (Mo)
• Zinc (Zn)
What is NPK and how does it work?
The letters “NPK” on a fertiliser label stand for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are the three primary nutrients plants need to grow. The fertilizer ratio indicates the proportion of nitrogen, phosphate, and potash in the fertiliser product. The higher the percentage in brackets, the higher the amount of the N, P, K nutrients in the blend.
What are some benefits of Macro Element – K?
• Helps cells maintain their internal pressure
• Reduces wilting and respiration by maintaining the balance of salts and water
• Increases root growth and resistance to disease and drought
• Sufficient K supply increases photosynthesis assimilation, improves nutrient uptake
• K plays a fundamental role in the opening of stomata, allowing adequate gas and water flow
• K plays a role in the transport of N, translocation of starch, and promotes photosynthesis
• K is also involved in opening and closing stomata to better cope with drought and cold stress.
• K is directly linked to the quality of grain/fruit as well as kernel crops
• Promotes the formation of proteins, sugars, starches, and oils
• Suppressed by high levels or administration of N and Ca
Factors that influence the availability of K
• Soils with low levels of organic matter
• Light sandy soils (leached)
• Periods of drought
• Prolonged periods of heavy rains in clay soil
• Where deficiencies of Mo and p have been corrected
• Heavy limed soils
What are some benefits of Macro Element – P?
• Increased stinger and stem strength
• Improved flower formation and seed production
• More uniform- and earlier crop maturity
• Increased Nitrogen N-Binding Capacity of Legumes
• Improvements in crop quality
• Sugar and starch formation
• Energy transfer
• Carbon-hidrate transport
• Phosphorus is crucial for processes such as cell division, root growth, flower formation, and fruit ripening.
• It is extremely important for plant energy and root development.
• Deficiencies in plants can occur as a result of inadequate root development.
• Phosphate uptake can be further negatively affected by excessive levels or application of Calcium and Iron
Factors that influence the availability of P
• Soil with a high clay content
• Soils with low OM
• Soils with high levels of hydrous oxides (OH) of Al or Fe
